We have been deciding to make this shift since long time but today we finally made the switch. Now all of our premium WordPress themes are 100% GPL.
Some decisions are difficult to take and implement and it was one such decision. I always feared that if I changed the licensing of my themes to GPL, people can resell them or even offer them for free. But when I attended my first WordCamp in Delhi, it changed my mind. I discussed the licensing issues with experts there and I found that there are more pros of GPL than the cons.
This post is just about the announcement of the licensing change of our themes so I will not go into details about the licensing here. All I can say is that now you can expect some free themes from BloomPixel. It is a way to give back to the community and I can also promote BloomPixel on WordPress.org. Apart from themes, we also have plans to offer some free plugins on WordPress.org.
